Painting Techniques Plastic Ragging Ragged walls have the look of crushed velvet or soft suede. Base Coat:National Vinyl Silk Glaze:National Special Effect , water . Steps: Cut several pieces of plastic 18 - 24" square. Complete 1, 2, and 4 of classic Ragging, opposite. Beginning of the ceiling, place a piece of plastic over the glaze. Press down lightly in random areas and peel off. Reposition the plastic below the area just pressed, and repeat. When the plastic becomes saturated, discard and replace it. You can reposition the plastic over the same area and press again to even out the effect. Continue to rag the applied glaze. The completed plastic ragging is bolder than classic ragging.
