Burnishing
Spots of increased sheen that appear after paint has been rubbed or scrubbed.
Cause:
- Use of flat finish for areas subject to heavy wear and soiling
- Furniture or other objects rubbing against walls.
- Washing and spot cleaning frequently.
- Use of low quality of paint with poor stain and scrub resistance
Solution:
- Do not clean with rough cleansers.
- Clean surface with non-abrasive detergents using a soft cloth or a sponge, then rinse with clean water.
- Paint heavy wear areas with high quality Paints' washable finishes.
- Gloss finishes are easier to clean and resist soil for high traffic areas.
