Problem Solving Burnishing Spots of increased sheen that appear after paint has been rubbed or scrubbed. Cause: Use of flat finish for areas subject to heavy wear and soiling Furniture or other objects rubbing against walls. Washing and spot cleaning frequently. Use of low quality of paint with poor stain and scrub resistance Solution: Do not clean with rough cleansers. Clean surface with non-abrasive detergents using a soft cloth or a sponge, then rinse with clean water. Paint heavy wear areas with high quality Paints' washable finishes. Gloss finishes are easier to clean and resist soil for high traffic areas.
