Problem Solving
Wrinkling
A rough crinkled surface caused by a drying interference and forming a wrinkled skin.
Cause:
- Applying the paint too thickly.
- Applying topcoat of paint to insufficiently cured primer.
- Painting during extreme hot or cool/damp conditions will force the paint to skin rather than cure properly.
- Painting over contaminated surface.
Solution:
- The wrinkled layers must be totally removed by sanding/scraping.
- If using a primer, allow it to dry completely before applying topcoat.
- Spread uniformly and avoid temperature and humidity extremes.
